A photo-etched detail set for the center fuselage of a Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress model in 1:48 scale, that is for the area of the waist gun positions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress was an American four-engined heavy bomber of the Second World War. The waist section, the part of the fuselage behind the wing, belonged to the pair of waist gunners. The space was made up of bare frames with stiffeners, runs of piping and ammunition stowage, and because the side windows opened, this spot is easy to see into from both sides on a finished model.
Photo-etched parts in thin metal sheet for this part of the fuselage in 1:48 scale. The metal replaces plastic shapes that would in reality be only a few millimeters thick, and adds items that cannot be rendered in plastic. The enclosed manufacturer's instructions give the exact range of parts and the assembly sequence; they also say which parts of the kit have to be thinned or removed before the photo-etch is glued on.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking them out. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades so that the edge stays straight. They are glued with a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); on larger areas a slower-setting glue helps. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer, otherwise the finish will not hold on the smooth surface.
The set belongs in the hands of a modeler who already has experience with small parts and owns tweezers, a sharp blade and cyanoacrylate glue. Check in the instructions which particular 1:48 kit it is developed for. The kit itself, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
