A kit of the American Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress heavy bomber in 1:48 scale, which is assembled without glue. It represents the machine carrying the nickname Mary Alice.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was one of the main heavy bombers of the US Army Air Forces in the Second World War. It is an all-metal four-engine monoplane with piston radial engines supplemented by turbochargers, thanks to which the machine kept its power even at great altitude. The G version is the last and most numerous one, and you will recognize it by the chin turret, which the designers added against head-on attacks by fighters. The defensive armament on this type was laid out so that formations of bombers covered one another, and it is from that armament that the aircraft gets its nickname flying fortress. The name Mary Alice in the title is the personal nickname of a particular machine, of the kind crews painted on the nose.
The model is assembled without glue, as the parts fit into each other and hold by the joint. The build therefore calls for neither glue nor paints, and even a beginner who is only starting out with model building will manage it. The procedure step by step is described in the manufacturer's instructions, which are enclosed with the kit.
Follow the instructions in the given order, because taking finished groups apart again tends to be laborious. Press the parts into each other squarely and without levering them sideways. Place the finished model out of direct sunlight, because the plastic on it fades in time, and for dust a soft wide brush is enough.
What is supplied is the kit of the model. Tools and a display case are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
