A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the British Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander light transport aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an addition to the build: the masks are stuck onto the glazed areas so that they stay clear during painting and the window frames have a sharp edge. The Islander has both a glazed pilot's cabin and a row of windows in the fuselage, so cutting tape by hand would be a long job; pre-shaped masks cut the work down to a few minutes. The material is a low-tack masking tape that leaves no glue on the glazing when it is removed.
The Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander is a British twin-engined high-wing aircraft that first flew in the mid-1960s and became one of the most widespread light transport types of all. An undemanding design with a fixed undercarriage, good performance on short and unpaved strips and easy maintenance won it work on island routes, with police and rescue services and in the role of a military liaison and patrol machine. It remains in service today.
Degrease the clear part and let it dry. Transfer the mask with tweezers, press it down and work the edges carefully so that paint does not run under them. Spray the shade of the interior framing first, then the outer color according to the scheme. On large glazing it pays to lay the paint on in thinner coats, so that no heavy build-up forms at the edge. Remove the masks only once the paint has dried, with fine-tipped tweezers at a shallow angle.
This is an addition for building a model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
