The package 1:48 Buccaneer S.2C/D is an Eduard accessory set from the Big Ed line. It brings together in one package several sets that are also sold separately, so a modeler does not have to buy the individual items one at a time. It is not a kit: the package does not contain a model of the aircraft but accessories for one. The base Buccaneer kit in 1:48 scale has to be obtained separately. The exact extent of the package differs between the individual editions; check it on the packaging.
The Blackburn Buccaneer was a British twin-engine carrier attack aircraft intended for flight at low altitudes and high speed. Characteristic of it are the slender fuselage, the split rear fuselage cover serving as an airbrake and the rotary bomb bay. The S.2C and S.2D versions grew out of the S.2 variant operated by the navy, with the S.2D adapted for guided missiles. The Buccaneers stayed in service long after they left the decks of aircraft carriers and still flew from land bases.
Photo-etched parts are cut with shears for photo-etched parts or with a scalpel on a hard surface, and are bent in a bending tool or between two razor blades. Degrease them before gluing; the metal has to be clean. Photo-etched parts are glued to plastic with superglue; with larger surfaces a glue with an extended setting time helps, so that time is left for seating the part. Parts that are not pre-painted need a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal. Fit and paint the interior parts before the fuselage is glued up, as afterwards they are inaccessible.
The set is supplied as an accessory to a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
