1:48 Canada Roundel is a square base with the Canadian air force roundel for models in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A square base with the national insignia of the Royal Canadian Air Force, made of acrylic 3 millimeters thick. The side of the square is 240 millimeters and the board weighs around 190 grams. The motif fills the whole area, so the model stands right in the middle of the insignia. The circular composition thus guides the eye by itself toward what you have built.
Canadian squadrons used the British roundel with a red center in the middle during the Second World War. After 1946 a red maple leaf replaced the center and the insignia became recognizable at first glance. It is carried by machines from the postwar Sabres through the Voodoo and the Starfighters to today's Hornets, so it suits a wide range of subjects. The red and white correspond to the national colors, which is why the insignia goes well with flag bases too.
A side of 240 millimeters comfortably takes a helicopter, a trainer machine or a smaller fighter in 1:48 scale. With long aircraft it serves rather as a striking background for a shot from above or as a base under part of a model. The circular motif also works well as the central element of a whole shelf. Under a smaller subject there is room left for a stand with a label or for small airfield equipment.
