About product

The real subject

The Caudron-Renault CR.714 Cyclone was a light fighter of French design, built largely of wood. It grew out of fast racing machines and its point was a cheap fighter that could be turned out quickly. It looks the part: a slender fuselage, a thin wing and small dimensions that set the machine apart from the sturdier fighters of the day. In France it was flown by Polish pilots in 1940, and it is precisely their machines that made it a rewarding modeling subject.

What the sheet contains

The sheet is intended for 1:48 scale and carries the markings of the machines on which Polish airmen served, that is national insignia, numbers and further markings taken from the real aircraft. How many variants are on the sheet and which machine each belongs to is given by the enclosed instructions.

Building and painting tips

The base must be smooth and sealed with gloss varnish; otherwise a matte mark from the backing is left around the print. Cut the element out close to the print, soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest until it will slide off the backing. Transfer it onto a drop of water, align it and blot the water away with the edge of a paper tissue; a decal softener will then settle it into the engraved lines. With a wooden structure it pays to spend time on the base, because every unevenness shows through a thin decal. Seal the whole model once it is dry.

Who it is for

For builders of fighters from the start of the Second World War and for anyone interested in the fortunes of Polish airmen in French service. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

Over a gloss base. Soak the element in lukewarm water, slide it off the backing onto a drop of water, align it and blot the water away. A decal softener will settle it into the engraved lines; seal the model at the end.

It is not. This is a standalone sheet of decals; the model, paints and glue are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
