Cessna O-2A Skymaster 1:48 in the Zoom version is a shortened color Eduard photo-etched set for the cockpit. It is neither an aircraft kit nor a masking set, but a pre-painted metal accessory for a plastic model.

Zoom is the shorter variant of the color etch from Eduard. The parts are printed in production, so painting the dials and the straps is unnecessary, and the extent is deliberately narrowed compared with a full color set to what is most visible in the cockpit. On the Skymaster that makes exceptional sense, because the machine has extensive glazing and the interior stays exposed once the model is finished. Note that products of an entirely different kind carry the same subject name in the range, for example masking sets or a plastic kit. This item is a photo-etched accessory.
The Cessna O-2A Skymaster came about as a military adaptation of a civilian twin-engine aircraft with a pusher and a tractor propeller in a tandem arrangement and with a pair of tail booms. In service it was used mainly for forward air control and observation, helped by its good endurance in the air and the excellent view from the cabin. The instrument panel kept its civilian character with large gauges, a detail that is hard to imitate by painting in 1:48 scale.
Glazing means that the interior has to be finished before you close the cabin and that nothing can be hidden in it. Work therefore in this order: first paint the plastic interior, then glue the photo-etched parts in, and only at the end set the glazing. Dry-fit the layered instrument panel and join it with a minimum of super glue so that the print does not fog. Put a drop of gloss clear or of clear resin into the dials to create the impression of glass. Sand the original plastic relief away at the place of installation. Do not spray the pre-printed areas with a covering color; the sheen can be evened out only with a thin matte clear coat. Dust the cabin out before the glazing goes on, as enclosed dust can no longer be removed.
