The 1:48 Commonwealth Trainers decal sheet from Xtradecal offers markings for trainers operated in the countries of the Commonwealth. It is a standalone decal sheet in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal, themed on trainers used by the air forces of the Commonwealth countries. It is not a kit: the decals are applied to a finished model that has been painted and prepared with varnish. Themed sheets of this kind are useful where a kit offers only one or two markings and the modeler wants to assign the machine to a country other than Britain.
The training schemes of the Commonwealth countries were closely linked both during and after the Second World War, and trainers of British origin appeared in service on several continents. The same type could therefore wear different national insignia, different shades of finish and a different system of numbers depending on where it served. That is precisely what makes trainers a rewarding modeling subject: a relatively simple airframe and at the same time a great variety of schemes.
With a sheet of this kind it pays to give attention to the trimming of the carrier film. With a sharp scalpel or a new razor blade, cut the film close to the printed area, especially on markings that lie on their own on a large surface. The less transparent film is left, the smaller the risk that a glossy outline will show after matting. Cut on a surface and not on the sheet held in your hand, and leave a narrow margin around the print, otherwise the edge of the color will flake off. Degrease the area before application and go over the joints with a softener once it is dry.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints and varnishes are not part of it.
