1:48 Consolidated B-24J Liberator seatbelts STEEL are photo-etched steel seat belts for the cockpit of the 1:48 model of the bomber from Eduard.
Responsibility details are not available.
The name of the set says what is inside: crew seat belts made in steel. After bending, steel holds its shape far more willingly than softer metals, so a strap can be folded convincingly over the edge of a seat or left hanging loose. The set is made by the Czech brand Eduard.
An empty seat looks unfinished in an open cockpit and the viewer's eye goes there first. The belts also give the interior a sense of scale: as soon as a fine strap with a buckle is visible inside, the space gains optical depth and stops looking like a bare plastic shell. Shaping them is quick, because only a few parts are involved.
The B-24J was the most numerous production version of the Liberator. The crew was usually ten men and combat flights over Europe lasted many hours, so the pilots' stations were fitted with a full harness. That is exactly the detail this set brings into model scale.
First straighten the strap on a hard surface, then bend it over the edge of a pair of tweezers into a gentle curve. Attach the buckles last, because they are harder to handle once the strap is bent. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a thin primer coat.
