Masks for spraying the American national insignia with a red center onto a Curtiss P-40E model in 1:48 scale. The marking comes out without the glossy film of a decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces national insignia decals with masks, under which the marking is sprayed directly onto the surface of the model. That does away with the glossy edge of the carrier film, which gives away even the finest varnishing on decals, and the paint follows the panel lines and the rivets the way the real spraying did. A sprayed marking also stands up better to subsequent highlighting and weathering, because it neither lifts nor flakes off underneath it.
It is the American star in a circle with a red center. American aircraft wore the marking in this form in the early part of the war; later the red center was dropped so that the machines would not be confused at a distance with Japanese ones. Builds of Curtiss P-40E machines fall precisely into this period, so the set aims at one of the most rewarding chapters of their color schemes.
The masks alone are supplied. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The number and the placement of the markings are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
