This is not a kit but an accessory for a model of the bomber version of the Mosquito in 1:48 scale. The SPACE range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most rests on three-dimensional decals: the printing is laid on a layered carrier, so the result has real relief and color at the same time. An instrument panel therefore does not look like a flat printed layer but like a three-dimensional part with dials, and that without painting tiny details with a brush.
How SPACE is applied
Elements of the SPACE range are not self-adhesive and are not soaked whole in water. With a damp sponge and a drop of detergent only the backing paper is moistened, the element is lifted from it with tweezers and fixed to the part with PVA glue, that is white glue. The manufacturer does not recommend super glue, and a decal softener is not used at all, because it would attack the printed layer. Even so the work is considerably easier than bending and gluing photo-etch, and that is exactly why SPACE is a popular way to lift the interior of a model quickly.
The de Havilland Mosquito was a British twin-engine aircraft of wooden construction, powered by V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. The B Mk.IV version is the bomber form with a crew of two and without defensive armament; it relied on speed and altitude. The crew cockpit of this version is glazed and on a finished model it can be seen into, so a detailed interior is not work wasted.
Degrease the parts before applying and let them dry. Moisten the backing paper, lift the element with sharp tweezers by its edge rather than by the printed area, and settle it onto a drop of PVA glue. Place it right at the first attempt, because an element suffers from being moved. It makes sense to finish the interior before closing up the fuselage, because afterward you can no longer reach it. If you weather the interior, do it carefully and preferably with a dry technique; solvents and a softener can damage the printing.
