AML decals 1:48 JG 5 over the Far North — a Czech decal set with markings of the fighter wing Jagdgeschwader 5, which operated beyond the Arctic Circle, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from the Czech manufacturer AML devoted to the aircraft of the fighter wing Jagdgeschwader 5, which operated on the northernmost sector of the European theater. The set in 1:48 scale brings the markings of a unit whose aircraft are, thanks to the combination of winter camouflage and bold emblems, among the most rewarding Luftwaffe subjects for modelers.
Jagdgeschwader 5 was formed early in 1942 and operated from bases in Norway and northern Finland. Its pilots fought over the Barents Sea, Murmansk and the Arctic convoys in conditions that had no parallel on other fronts: polar night, extreme cold and flights over an icy sea. The unit flew Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Focke-Wulf Fw 190 aircraft and its emblems were among the most colorful in the Luftwaffe.
Winter and northern camouflage schemes tend to have broken transitions, so apply the decals over gloss intermediate varnish and, with subjects lying across several color areas, work with a decal softener so that the film adheres perfectly. Let the white areas of the base cure thoroughly before application so that the softener does not attack them.
This is a stand-alone decal set; the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
