The real subject

The DHC-2 Beaver is a single-engined high-wing monoplane of Canadian design with a radial piston engine, designed for operation from short and unpaved strips. A robust structure, large doors and the possibility of exchanging the wheeled undercarriage for floats or skis made it the typical aircraft for remote regions. Besides civil employment it also served in the military as a liaison and observation machine. A number of machines fly to this day and carry a wide spectrum of finishes, from sober operational ones to varied color combinations.

Application tips

With the Beaver the work often involves large-area decals, for example long stripes along the fuselage or color fields on the fin. A large film is sensitive to trapping air, so lay it on from one side and press the water and the air out gradually with a soft squeegee or a cotton swab in an outward direction. It is advisable to have enough water under the decal so that it can be slid freely, and to soak the liquid away only once it is set in position. Let the transitions across doors and windows dry and only then cut them through carefully with a fresh blade and press them down again.
