The abbreviation in the name is the code designation of the particular machine whose appearance the set is tied to. It is not a kit and it is not decals — the masks serve to spray the markings and the areas directly on the model.
The Do 217N-2 is the night fighter version derived from the twin-engined Do 217 bomber. Compared with the bomber variant it has a reworked nose with fixed armament, and it is connected with the use of radar, whose antennas protrude from the nose. For a model that means two things: a large glazed area of the canopy that has to be masked, and a highly broken-up surface in the places where the masks have to follow the transitions.
For modelers who build a particular Do 217N-2 machine and want the markings sprayed instead of decals. Verify the match with the kit you have before you buy — the masks are cut to the shape of a particular molding and need not fit another mold.
