A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the German Dornier Do 335A-12 Pfeil in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model: it is an accessory that makes painting the cockpit glazing and other small areas cleanly much easier. The A-12 version is the two-seat trainer variant, so the masks cover both cockpits; they are stuck straight onto the parts and the framing of the glazing thus gets crisp, straight edges without laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this kind also tend to include circular masks for the wheel discs.
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil was a German heavy fighter with an unusual arrangement of two engines in tandem: one at the front with a tractor propeller and the other at the rear with a pusher. Thanks to that it was among the fastest piston aircraft of the Second World War. The A-12 version was the two-seat trainer conversion with two cockpits one above the other in a stepped arrangement, intended for converting pilots.
Lift the mask carefully off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and lay it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully, so that paint cannot run underneath. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat hardens completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
