The mask set 1:48 Douglas A-4C Skyhawk from Eduard is cut for the glazing of the all-weather version of this attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The article offered is a masking aid for a build, not an aircraft model. The cut outlines match the frames of the glazing of the C version and save the time that would otherwise go on cutting thin strips. The maker of the set is Eduard.
The A-4C was the first Skyhawk with a radar in an extended nose, thanks to which it gained the ability to operate in worse weather conditions as well. Besides the nose, the changes also concerned the equipment of the cabin. The version stayed small and nimble, which had been the main strength of the whole type from the start; the machines served with the carrier squadrons and in later training roles. A number of machines also went to foreign users, where they flew for many years more.
The extended nose and the different frames mean that a set for another form of the Skyhawk need not fit. Spray the frame with a shade matching the interior, and only then the overall camouflage. With a gray and white scheme it pays to spray a trial sample in advance, because the deviations between individual makers of paints are unusually large in this light range. Once the masks are removed, polish the whole canopy lightly, so that the glazing gets its original depth of gloss back.
