Kabuki masks for the Douglas B-26K Counter Invader at the EXPERT level, 1:48 scale from New Ware. The highest level of the range for a model with intricate glazing; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from New Ware intended for a model of the twin-engine B-26K Counter Invader in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for the build, not the model itself. The masks are cut from kabuki paper, and the EXPERT designation means the highest level of the graded BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT range; the level is the main piece of information by which sets with the same name differ.
The Counter Invader came about by converting the older twin-engine Invader for reconnaissance and attack duties and kept glazing with a great many flat panes and straight frames. That is exactly the kind of glazing that is hardest to do by hand: the frames are narrow, there are many of them and one inaccurate stroke is enough for the whole cockpit to need repair. Pre-cut masks cut the work from hours to minutes and, above all, give every frame the same width.
On very small panes and in the corners a hairline gap sometimes remains between the mask and the frame. Do not deal with it by taping over: it is easier, once the mask is off, to fill the missing piece in with a fine brush or with the sharp point of a touch-up pencil. Do the same with the inner side of the frames, which the masks usually do not cover; there, instead of masking, it works better to spray the interior shade before the fuselage is closed up.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
