A dustbin 1:48 is a scenic accessory for a diorama — a stand-alone object for a yard, a lane or a building. It is not a model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone object of a scene for a diorama in 1:48 scale, not a model and not a kit. A trash can is one of the elements that carry ordinariness in a scene: stood by a wall, in a yard or in a passage, it reveals at once that this is an inhabited place with its own daily life, not a backdrop built around a model.
The scale is the distinguishing detail. The accessory is made for 1:48 and fits figures and vehicles in the same scale. The manufacturer also makes the same subject in further scales — for 1:35 or 1:72 choose the matching variant.
In a town lane, in a backyard, by a workshop, in the grounds of a station or a barracks. It works well in the corner of a composition, where it fills an otherwise empty spot and at the same time hides the joint between a building and the base. Beside a trash can you can arrange scattered rubbish, a box or a sack, and the scene gains a layer that buildings alone do not give.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water before painting, cut the casting residue off and sand the surface. Lay the base down thinly, so that the edges do not clog. A trash can is among the objects where weathering pays off: after the base color add a darker wash into the ribs and joints, pick out the battered edges with a dry brush and suggest rust in spots rather than continuously. Leave the lower part at ground level dustier than the top. Finally knock the sheen back with a matte varnish — a smooth glossy surface would give away that this is a model.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
