The parts are of colored plastic and join by clipping together, and the build proceeds according to numbered illustrated instructions. The designation FGR4 in the name refers to the form under which the Typhoon serves with the Royal Air Force. The 1:48 scale given in the name corresponds to a model that is comfortably manageable for a display case.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a multirole fighter developed jointly by four European countries, namely Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. It is recognized by its canard layout, that is, by the small foreplanes ahead of the main delta wing, which give the aircraft exceptional maneuverability. The power comes from a pair of jet engines, and thanks to its electronic flight control system the machine is deliberately designed to be aerodynamically unstable, which is exactly the source of its agility. The British designation FGR4 expresses that this is a single-seat machine able to carry out fighter and attack tasks and to carry reconnaissance equipment. In practice the Typhoon provides both the protection of airspace and precise strikes on ground targets.
The instructions divide the build into steps from the fuselage through the wing and the canard foreplanes to the landing gear and the stores. Before starting it pays off to sort the parts out and to work on a flat surface. The finished model is strong and will take ordinary handling, so it can be moved around without worry. The joints stay demountable, so the model can be dismantled and built again at any time. Wipe the dust off with a soft brush.
