Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the cabin glazing of the Extra EA-300L aerobatic aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set holds no part of a model — it serves to let you spray the frames of the canopy with sharp edges and without laborious cutting of tape. The masks are stuck onto the transparent part, the frame is sprayed and once it has dried the templates are lifted off. The result is cleaner and much faster than masking by hand, especially on small frames, where the tape method easily gets away from you. The manufacturer is the Czech brand Brengun.
The Extra EA-300L is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft of German design, which is among the most widespread machines in top-level aerobatics and air racing. It has a welded steel tube fuselage covered with fabric and a composite wing, and it is powered by an air-cooled Lycoming engine with an output of around three hundred horsepower. The structure is built for high load factors in both directions. The large sliding canopy with a view in practically every direction is characteristic of the type, so the glazing is a conspicuous element on a model.
Wash the transparent part before masking and let it dry completely — fingerprints cannot be corrected under paint. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it in place and press the edges down with a toothpick, so that no paint gets under them. Spray thin layers: first the shade of the interior of the frames and only then the external color. Lift the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, not after weeks — after a longer time the adhesive comes off less easily. If the frame runs over onto a part of the fuselage, finish the transition with a brush after lifting off. Remove residues of adhesive with a dry cotton swab, not with solvent.
It is an aid for painting, not a kit and not decals. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
