A package from the LööKplus series by the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Lockheed F-104A in 1:48 scale. The series brings together in one package the pre-painted equipment of the cockpit and further accessories for the same model. The F-104A was the first production version of the supersonic fighter with a very slender fuselage, short straight wings and a T-tail. It is not a kit: the base kit is obtained separately. Eduard also issues individual photo-etched sets, masks and bundles for the same type under similar names; the individual sets are told apart by the exact designation of the series, and this one is from the LööKplus series.
The cockpit of a slender fighter is small in 1:48 scale and yet still clearly visible under a canopy slid back. Painting the small equipment by hand is a thankless job here; the result depends on a steady hand and one slipped stroke destroys half an hour of effort. A pre-painted part skips that step. The exact list of the package's contents is given on the packaging; lay the parts out before building and work out the order, because once the fuselage is closed you will not reach the cockpit.
The whole logic of the work turns on sheen and order. The pre-painted parts are not painted over, but they tend to have a different degree of sheen from a sprayed interior, so at the end the whole compartment has to be unified with one thin coat of matte or semi-matte varnish, one coat and not repeated, because a heavy coat will fog the fine printing. Choose the shade of the surroundings so that it suits the finished part; a markedly lighter interior will make it look like a foreign body. And above all: a part is glued on only once the surroundings are sprayed, weathered and dry. Fitted beforehand it would have to be masked, and every piece of tape on a pre-painted surface is a risk not worth taking.
These are accessories, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
