The F-14D is the last production form of the American F-14 Tomcat carrier fighter. The crew consists of a pilot and a weapon systems officer seated one behind the other, and the aircraft has a variable-geometry wing that sweeps back in flight. The D form received new equipment and served with the US Navy until the type was withdrawn. The cockpit with its two stations is clearly visible on a model, which is why it pays to put more work into exactly that area.

An etch is made from thin metal sheet, so the parts have a thickness close to the real thing; plastic cannot do this, and flat features on a kit always look thicker than they should. The colored elements are printed at the factory and are not painted over. According to the manufacturer the set is intended for the Tamiya kit. The manufacturer's instructions give the exact extent of the set and the position of the individual parts, so check the match with your own model beforehand.
Cut the parts out of the carrier sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors, and do not tear them out; a bent or torn etch can never be straightened back into its original shape. Make the bends on a bending tool or on the edge of a metal rule, always in one movement. Glue with a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, because any excess spreads over the printed surface and dulls it. Degrease the metal part before gluing and leave the surface under it smooth. Handle the colored elements with smooth-jawed tweezers so as not to scratch them.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
