A photo-etched set for the F-15C model in 1:48 scale. The metal parts give the model thinner edges and finer relief than a plastic molding allows.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etched parts are made by etching the outline and the surface relief into thin metal sheet. Thickness is exactly their advantage: a metal part has an edge a plastic molding cannot match and carries detail that could not be transferred into plastic in this scale. The set is listed for the American F-15C fighter in 1:48 scale, that is for a machine whose models tend to be built with great emphasis on detail.
Separate the part with a sharp blade on a hard surface; scissors ripple the metal where they cut and it then has to be straightened again. Level the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bend in a bending tool or between two steel rulers, so that the edge is sharp and straight. The glue is super glue in a really small amount, applied with the tip of a wire. Try every part dry before gluing; correcting a photo-etched part once it is seated is a thankless job.
Degrease the parts before painting and use a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat fills in the fine relief the photo-etched part is put on the model for. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The model of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
