This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory intended for the cockpit of a model in 1:48 scale. Interior photo-etched sets of this type usually offer the instrument panel, the side consoles, levers and seat belts, that is elements that in plastic are only suggested by engraving. Thin metal gives the cockpit depth and sharp edges, which shows most on a model with the canopy open. The exact extent of the parts is given in the instructions supplied with the set. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard from Obrnice near Most.
The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine air superiority fighter. The MSIP II designation refers to an upgrade program under which the machines received newer avionics and revised cockpit equipment. That is precisely why the cockpit equipment of the upgraded machines differs from the original form and a separate set exists for them.
Separate the parts with a scalpel against a hard surface, and hold the tiny pieces down with a dampened wooden stick so that they do not spring away. Before gluing, it is a good idea to sand off the original engraved detail on the plastic so that the panel sits flat. Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer for metals, otherwise the paint cracks. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, and on larger areas thin epoxy helps, as it allows the part to be shifted. The instruments come to life if, once the paint has dried, a dark wash is run into the recesses and the dials are given a drop of gloss clear.
The set is an accessory to a kit and comes unpainted, unless stated otherwise. Glue, paints and the kit itself are not included in the package.
