The F-15E is a two-seat American strike aircraft derived from the F-15 fighter. Unlike the original version it is meant for attacks on ground targets as well, in any weather and at night; the rear crew member operates the systems for work against the ground. It is powered by two turbofan engines with afterburning. Thanks to its load-carrying ability and its range it is among the busiest machines of the US Air Force.
The set holds photo-etched metal parts for a model of the F-15E in 1:48 scale. The advantage of photo-etched parts lies in the thickness: the sheet is an order of magnitude thinner than the finest injection-molded part, so grilles, plates, rims and small panels look on a model really like sheet metal, not like a plastic tab. The exact identification of the parts and their placement is given in the maker's instructions.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp knife or with small photo-etch shears; never break them out by twisting, as they will deform. Make the bends in a bender or between the jaws of flat pliers, always along the marked groove and in one movement. The photo-etched parts are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in tiny drops with the tip of a toothpick. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a thin coat of a base paint suitable for metal, otherwise the paint rubs off during handling alone. Where possible, paint the parts before gluing them on and then only tone the joints in.
The accessory is for modelers building the F-15E in 1:48 scale who already have basic experience of working with photo-etched parts. The paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
