This is a set of self-adhesive masks from the Art Scale brand for a plastic model of the single-seat F-16A fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are supplied pre-cut to shape, so there is no cutting out of masking tape with a knife, and they are stuck straight onto the clear part, that is onto the canopy. This set is the double-sided form; the single-sided variant of the same type is a separate item. The set is cut for the Kinetic kit; on a model from another maker it need not fit.
The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole combat aircraft, and the A version is the original single-seat form. Its typical feature is the frameless bubble canopy, which gives the pilot a view in practically every direction. That is exactly what makes it a hard nut for a modeler: the clear part is large, complex in shape, and any unevenness on the edge of a frame is immediately visible on a finished model.
Wash and degrease the canopy, then carry the mask over with tweezers, lay it down dry and press the edges with a toothpick so that no paint runs under them. With double-sided masking, settle the inner face and the shade of the frame from within first, and only then paint from the outside. Spray in thin coats at right angles to the surface; a heavy coat leaves a little step at the edge. On a bubble canopy watch the curves, where a mask tends to lift, and press it down there again just before spraying. Take the mask off at a shallow angle as soon as the paint is dry to the touch.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
