A photo-etched metal accessory set for a model of the F-16A MLU in 1:48 scale. The extent of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-16A is the single-seat version of the American General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter. The abbreviation MLU stands for Mid-Life Update, the mid-life modernization program that the F-16A and F-16B aircraft of European users went through. The upgrade brought them new avionics and cockpit equipment close to the later versions, so the machines stayed in service considerably longer than originally planned.
This is a set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched parts are thin and true in outline, which makes them useful wherever injection-molded plastic cannot keep the thickness of the material down. The list of parts and a drawing of their placement are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp knife close to the tab and sand the rest of the tab away with a file. Make the bends in a bending tool or over the edge of a blade, always in one go and along the whole length, so that the edge stays straight. Wash and degrease the metal before gluing. It is bonded with super glue or a two-part epoxy; polystyrene cement does not hold on metal. It pays to apply a primer coat before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on smooth metal.
The set assumes experience with fine work, tweezers and a steady hand. It is an accessory to a build, not an aircraft kit; paints, glue and the model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
