A photo-etched metal set for the interior of an F-16A model in 1:48 scale. The thin metal parts sharpen up the cockpit area, which is the most exposed part of a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs among the photo-etched metal accessories and aims at the interior of an F-16A model in 1:48 scale. On an aircraft model the cockpit is visible through the clear canopy at close range and at full size, so every simplified surface shows on it. A metal part may be as thin as sheet, and that is why even shapes that have to be much thicker on an injection-molded part for reasons of production look natural on it.
The F-16A is the single-seat version of the American lightweight Fighting Falcon fighter. The cockpit is part of what made the machine famous: it is covered by a clear canopy with no forward frame, which gives a view in every direction, the seat is noticeably reclined, and the control stick is not between the pilot's knees but is a side stick on the right-hand cockpit sidewall. A space like that is worth fitting out carefully on a model.
Try the parts dry before you glue the fuselage halves together, because reaching into the cockpit gets harder afterwards. The molded relief on the sidewalls usually needs trimming off and the surface leveling, so that the metal part sits down across its whole face. Cut the tabs through with a sharp blade on a hard surface and make the bends along the marked grooves. Use super glue applied drop by drop to the edge of the part; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the surfaces before painting. The layout of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
