The F-16 is one of the most widespread Western-built combat aircraft and serves in dozens of countries. Over decades of service the airframe has seen a whole range of modifications, and reinforcement plates were added at several highly loaded places on the skin. On the real aircraft they are clearly visible: they have a distinct outline, a row of rivets around the edge and often a different shade from the surrounding area. On a model in 1:48 scale this is exactly the detail that is missing on a smooth skin and that an expert notices first.
The set brings vinyl elements in the shape of the reinforcement plates of the F-16 in 1:48 scale. It covers the A, B, C and D versions, that is single-seat as well as two-seat machines. The vinyl is thin and flexible, so it conforms to the curve of the fuselage and makes no step at the edge.
The surface of the model has to be clean, degreased and the finish under it perfectly dry; an element will not seat on fresh paint. Lift them out of the sheet with a sharp blade or tweezers and lay them straight into place, so that they do not have to be slid around. Then press the edge down along its whole length with a blunt point. Before you start, check in the manufacturer's instructions whether the elements stay on the model or whether they only define an area for spraying. That decides when they come off and how the model is worked on afterwards.
