The masking set Eduard 1:48 F-35A serves for spraying a model of the F-35A fighter in 1:48 scale without cutting tape by hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the single-seat F-35A fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, nor an accessory that stays on the model. These are shaped masks that are stuck on the areas meant to stay free of paint before spraying and taken off again once it has dried.
A modern fighter has smooth surfaces and few sharp transitions, so every imperfection in the spraying shows. The canopy glazing tends to be markedly tinted, and any paint that gets under the mask is very hard to remove from it: solvents dull a clear part and mechanical cleaning scratches it. A pre-shaped mask solves that problem at source.
Degrease the surface first, then stick the mask on and press the edges down with a toothpick. Next comes a light pass with the underlying shade, which seals any gap under the edge, and only then the target color in two or three thin coats. It also pays to plug the air intakes and the nozzle with cotton wool or foam, because the mist from an airbrush gets surprisingly far into deep openings. Remove the mask as soon as the paint has flashed off. Wipe any glue residue off a clear part with a dry cloth, never with thinner.
This is a masking set. The model, paints and thinner are not sold with it.
