This is a set of pre-cut masking templates in fine kabuki (washi) tape intended for models of the F-35A Lightning II fighter in 1:48 scale. They are not decals and not paint, but masks that define the areas of the so-called RAM panels so that they can be sprayed in a slightly different shade from the surrounding surface.

What the RAM panels are for

The real F-35 has its surface covered with radar absorbent material (RAM). A number of panels and their borders therefore have a subtly different tone on a model than the basic camouflage. Marking those areas out by hand is slow and inaccurate; pre-cut masks ensure crisp edges and the right shape in a single spray pass.

Use

• Apply the masks over the dried basic shade according to the enclosed diagram.
• Spray the shade of the RAM panels, let it set and remove the masks.
• Kabuki tape shapes well around curves and leaves no sticky residue.
• Suitable for an airbrush and for a spray can; we recommend thin coats.
