A masking set for a model of the American F-4B Phantom II carrier-borne fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4B Phantom II was a twin-engine carrier-borne fighter aircraft of the US Navy and one of the first production versions of the whole Phantom family. You will know it by the massive fuselage, the folding outer sections of the wing and the extensive glazing of the two-seat cockpit. It is precisely the extensive glazing that makes the most work during a build: the frames are long and cranked and a straight line is hard to hold when they are covered with tape by hand.
The set holds masking stencils cut to the shape of the matching surfaces of a model in 1:48 scale. The stencil is stuck onto the place meant for it, the rest of the surface is sprayed and once it is taken off a sharp edge stays without any seeping. The exact list of parts in the set is given by the maker on the packaging.
Wash the surface before sticking the mask on, degrease it and let it dry completely, because on a greasy surface the mask will not hold. Lift the stencil with tweezers, settle it in place and press it down around the edges with a wooden toothpick, so that no paint seeps under the edge. Spray in thin coats and from the edge of the mask inward, because a heavy coat will force its way under the edge. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried and before you take a varnish over the surface; otherwise a trace of the adhesive will stay on the model.
The kit and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The kit the masks are cut for is given by the maker on the packaging.
