Colored decals for the cockpit of the Japanese upgraded version of the Phantom, the F-4EJ Kai, in 1:48 scale. The name marks the item as the smaller variant, that is a narrower selection against the full version of the same subject. Check the exact difference in the contents on the box.
The Phantom has a two-seat cockpit, so the hand painting of instruments in it is multiplied by two, and that is exactly where this set brings the most relief. Kits usually deal with the instrument panels and the side consoles by engraved relief with a flat decal, or by a bare part to be painted. Colored interior decals replace both: the dial faces, the lettering and the colored areas are printed from manufacture, so what is left for the modeler is the base coat of the cockpit, the seating of the elements and the final unifying of the gloss. On a two-seat cockpit that means a saving of time you can see in the result.
Clean the flash off the parts, paint them in the base shade, let the paint cure and brush a gloss clear coat over it — on a matte base, air would be trapped under the decal and the edges would go white. Transfer the elements one by one with a damp brush and blot the water from the side. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer; the manufacturer forbids them on these sets. A matte or semi-gloss overcoat at the end.
Paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
