This photo-etched set is an accessory, not a standalone model. It contains fine photo-etched parts that render the external reinforcement straps of the fuselage and the formation lights on an F-4G Phantom II model in 1:48 scale. These are details that injection-molded plastic can only hint at, and fine metal photo-etch is exactly what brings them closer to the real thing.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4G Wild Weasel was a specialized version of the Phantom intended to suppress enemy air defenses and destroy radars. It was based on the F-4E airframe and carried distinctive equipment for finding and attacking radar sites. Reinforcement straps and formation lights are among the typical external marks of the later Phantoms.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret, bend them where needed and attach them with cyanoacrylate glue. The formation lights show up best when backed and covered with a translucent color. Degrease and roughen the surface before gluing so that the metal holds well.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
