The designation Small version in the name says that the set covers a smaller part of the cabin than the full version of the same set. The color print on the sheet is accompanied by the resin parts stated in the name. It is a practical choice for a model where the glazing stays closed and deep detail would be lost in it anyway. It follows the dimensions of the Academy kit.
The machines designated F-4S came out of a rebuild of earlier carrier-based Phantoms. Besides a strengthened airframe and new electronics they received leading-edge slats, which gave the aircraft back its lost agility. With the Marine Corps squadrons they lasted until machines of a new generation replaced them, and they are thus the last production development stage of the naval branch of the whole type.
The smaller extent means that you should not count on all the areas being covered. Paint in whatever stays uncovered with a brush so that the shade carries over. Always seat the paper on a smooth gloss base and let it dry undisturbed before you start the next step. Do not use a decal softener, as it would attack the printed resin. A matte overspray at the end will even out the difference between print and paint. Only then fit the seats and the frame of the glazing in place.
