The real subject

The Republic F-84F Thunderstreak is an American jet fighter-bomber of the early 1950s. It differs from its straight-winged predecessor in having a swept wing and swept tail surfaces, which gave it a markedly higher speed. It stayed in service for a long time; besides the US Air Force it served in a number of European countries and it is one of the types with a very varied range of finishes and national insignia.

What the set is for

These are masks pre-cut to the shape of the parts of the 1:48 F-84F model from Kinetic. You therefore do not have to cut them out or measure them off: you lift the mask from the sheet and place it straight where it belongs. This form is single-sided, that is intended for masking from one side. The double-sided form, which masks the parts from both sides, is a separate item with its own code.

Building and painting tips

• Place the masks before spraying, onto a clean and degreased surface.
• Press the edges down carefully so that paint cannot get under them.
• Spray in several thin coats; a heavy coat creeps under and leaves a step once removed.
• Lift the mask with tweezers soon after the paint has dried, not after it has stood for a long time.
• Take it off at an angle to the surface, not straight up, so that you do not tear the coat.

The set of masks is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and decals are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The exact procedure for placing them is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
