1:48 F-86A Sabre is a Big Ed package from Eduard that gathers three separate accessory sets for a model of the first American swept-wing jet fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains three accessories that Eduard also offers individually, gathered in a single box. The modeler thus gets a matched fit-out for one machine without having to put an order together piece by piece. It usually includes photo-etched detail for the interior and the exterior and the means to mask the clear parts, the combination usual with this brand.
The Sabre was the first American fighter with a swept wing, which let it approach the speed of sound. The A version formed the backbone of the inventory at the start of the Korean War, and it was these machines that met their Soviet opponents in the area around the Yalu River. The armament was six 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose, and the power came from an axial-flow turbojet. A flat angular windscreen and the earlier form of the tail surfaces remain a characteristic mark of the early machines.
Bend the photo-etched parts over a sharp edge and fix them only after a dry fit. Degrease the metal surfaces before painting and spray a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth brass. Apply the masks to a perfectly clean clear part and remove them while the paint is still fresh, as a dried layer likes to tear at the edge.
