An Eduard photo-etched set in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-86D interceptor. It adds the thin features to the model that plastic cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American F-86D is a single-engine jet interceptor derived from the well-known Sabre but in practice a new machine. You recognize it by the nose: above the air intake it carries a radome, which earned it a nickname referring to a dog's nose. Instead of gun armament it received a retractable tray of unguided rockets, because it was intended for a quick strike against bomber formations, not for a fight with other fighters.
This is a photo-etched set in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch offers features at the correct thickness and the fine detail that a plastic part cannot carry; typically it is used for details where you can see on a model that the real part is made of thin sheet. The set is shaped for one particular kit; the information about it is in the manufacturer's directions.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not by breaking them out. Make the bends on a bending tool or against a hard edge and work in several steps, so that the bend comes out crisp and exactly where it should be. They are bonded with super glue in tiny drops; a pin suits the dosing. Degrease the photo-etch before painting and give it a base coat, otherwise you will rub the finish off during handling. Work over a light surface; a small part gets lost from a dark board before you pick it up with tweezers.
The photo-etched set alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
