A set of stencils for the national insignia and markings of the all-weather interceptor F-86D Sabre Dog in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking sheet for spraying the national insignia and markings on the F-86D. The layout of the cutouts is prepared for the mold of the Monogram brand, which the name of the item names.
Although it shares its name and its basic shape with the fighter version, it is in fact a markedly reworked machine. A bulky radar fairing grew above the air intake, and it earned the type a nickname referring to a dog's muzzle. The classic gun armament was replaced by a retractable tray with unguided rockets, which the pilot released on the command of the onboard fire-control system. The engine received an afterburner, so the machine climbed quickly to its target. The Sabre Dog was built in enormous numbers and became the backbone of the air defense of the continental territory; later it served with allies as well.
Interceptors of this generation mostly wore natural metal supplemented with the colorful elements of their squadrons. Such a surface is merciless to every irregularity, and that is why it pays to spray the markings. The procedure is simple: degrease the surface, lay the stencil on, press the edges down with a wooden stick and spray only hard enough for the paint to build coverage slowly.
