Responsibility details are not available.
A set of etched metal parts for building the F-86F in 1:48 scale. Etched metal solves what an injection mold cannot: features that should be of thin sheet and in plastic come out needlessly thick, or a detail that could not be engraved into a mold finely enough. Which parts the set contains and where they belong on the model is listed in the instructions from the manufacturer.
The F-86 is among the first American jet fighters with a swept wing and became famous in the fighting over Korea. It takes air to the powerplant through a nose intake in the tip of the fuselage, and the pilot sits under a teardrop canopy with a good view in every direction. The F version is the day fighter variant from a later phase of production; some of the machines got a modified leading edge of the wing.
A metal part as a rule replaces a feature that is molded on the plastic. Sand that off first and level the surface, or the new part will not bed down and the edge will stand off. Try everything dry before gluing. Thin super glue can be applied at the edge of a part laid in place and it will draw itself underneath, so no excess is left on the surface. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it with alcohol and spray it with a primer; on bare sheet the paint rubs off while the part is being set in.
The package contains only the etched parts. A kit, paints and glue are not included unless stated otherwise.
