This is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory set. At Eduard, Big Sin is a bundle that brings several individual accessories together into one box instead of buying them separately. The ESSENTIAL designation says that it is a selection of the essentials, that is, the accessories that make the biggest difference on a model, not a complete outfit of every set available. The set is cut for the F4F-3 version with a reflector gunsight.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American carrier fighter with a Pratt and Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engine and landing gear that retracted into the fuselage. The F4F-3 version was older than the later F4F-4: it had fixed, non-folding wings and an armament of four 12.7 mm machine guns. The reflector gunsight, which projected an aiming pattern onto a glass plate, replaced on some machines the older telescopic sight led through the windscreen, so it is a recognition detail of a particular production form.
Working with accessory parts. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife and level the faces with abrasive paper, preferably wet, otherwise with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue, as plastic cement will not join resin, and a primer is needed before painting. Cut the photo-etched parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a bending tool. Always test fit dry, because the plastic parts that the accessories replace usually have to be sanded away first.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. Check before buying that the set fits your kit.
