A photo-etched set for a model of the F4F-4 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. Metal parts at scale thickness for the places where plastic is not enough.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a model of the American Grumman F4F-4 carrier fighter. The elements are etched from thin metal sheet and on a model they replace the places where molded plastic gives its thickness away at first glance: thin rims, grilles and small flat faces.
The Wildcat was the main fighter of the US Navy at the start of the war and had to make do against opponents who outclassed it in agility. It made up for that with toughness and with tactics that played on pairs and on diving with a margin of speed. The F4F-4 version received a folding wing, so that substantially more of them fitted on the deck of an aircraft carrier, and armament of six 12.7 mm machine guns. The main landing gear retracted into the fuselage by hand and the cockpit sat high above a short, stocky fuselage.
Work over a surface with a raised rim, because a small part will jump off the table before you can blink. First rid the place the element is going of the molded detail and level the area away to nothing, so that the metal beds down over its whole face. Make the bend against a sharp edge, not with your fingers. Meter cyanoacrylate glue out on the tip of a pin, because any excess under a thin part will show as a white veil. Before painting, degrease the metal and put a primer under it, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
