Responsibility details are not available.
A separate decal sheet in 1:48 scale intended for a model of the F-4J Phantom II carrier fighter. It is not a kit — the set holds only markings with which the decoration of a model that is already built is completed or changed. Zoukei-Mura issues these sheets as a follow-up accessory to its large aircraft kits, so the dimensions and the layout of the print match large-scale Phantom models.
The F-4J was the naval variant of the two-seat twin-engined Phantom II fighter. Compared with the earlier versions it was given a more powerful radar, modified avionics and further changes to the flight controls, which improved its behavior when landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The aircraft served with navy and marine units and its markings tended to be striking — unit codes, squadron insignia and extensive technical lettering on the fuselage and the wing.
Large-area decals with colorful tail decoration call for careful preparation: clear coat the surface with gloss varnish and let it cure thoroughly, otherwise the softener will attack the paint under the film. Carry a large decal onto the area together with the paper and only then slide it off the paper — a large film on its own is easy to fold over and stick to itself. Soak the small technical lettering one piece at a time and lay it down with the tip of a dampened brush. On areas with screws and engraving it helps, once dry, to pierce the bubbles with the tip of a scalpel and put a drop of softener on them. Apply the weathering only after the decals have been clear coated, so that the edges of the film do not lift.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The aircraft model, paints and clear coats are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
