This die-cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale is intended for a plastic model of the American Vought F4U-1 Corsair carrier fighter in the early version with the heavily framed canopy known as the birdcage. It is neither a kit nor a standalone model but a set of precisely shaped masks in thin yellow masking tape (kabuki). The masks will be appreciated by modelers who want crisp color edges on the glazing, the wheels and the camouflage fields without the slow job of cutting tape by hand.
The Vought F4U Corsair is an American carrier fighter of the Second World War with a powerful radial engine and an unmistakable inverted gull wing. The early F4U-1 had a heavily framed canopy with a great many glazed panels, which earned the aircraft the birdcage nickname. The Corsair served mainly with the US Navy and the Marine Corps and made its name as one of the most successful fighters of the Pacific.
Degrease the glazing of the heavily framed canopy thoroughly. Lift the masks off the backing and lay them patiently on the individual panels, working systematically frame by frame. Spray the color with an airbrush in thin coats. The wheel masks separate the tire from the rim. Once the paint has dried, peel the masks off carefully at a sharp angle.
The package contains masks only. The model, the paints, the glue and the decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
