1:48 F4U-1D Corsair seatbelts STEEL are Eduard photo-etched steel seat belts for a model of the American carrier fighter F4U-1D Corsair in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains photo-etched seat belts for the pilot's seat of a model of the F4U-1D Corsair in 1:48 scale. According to the name it is the steel form, which differs from the brass one in that once bent it holds its shape and does not spring back. This is not a kit of the aircraft or a complete cockpit set but an accessory narrowly aimed at a single, though well-visible, detail.
On a model in 1:48 scale the seat tends to be the first thing visible when you look into the cockpit. A plastic rendering of the belts, if the kit has one at all, looks flat once painted. A photo-etched belt has a real thickness, can be folded over the edge of the seat and left hanging loose, so the cockpit at once gains depth and the right scale. On the Corsair the cockpit is moreover often built with the canopy slid back, so it can be looked into.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface and do not drag them sideways with tweezers. Steel bends less easily than brass, but the bend then holds, so shape the belt first and glue it only afterwards. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue or with a micro glue applied in minute drops. Fit the belts only after the seat has been painted and before the fuselage is closed, otherwise you will no longer reach them.
It is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
