This Quinta Studio set brings cockpit interior fittings for the Corsair in the F4U-2 version and is intended for a model already under construction, not as a kit. According to the name the elements are three-dimensional and finished in color. The name also gives the target kit, so to be precise: this set is cut for the Hobby Boss kit.
The F4U-2 was the night fighter conversion of the Corsair, of which only a few dozen were built. On the right wing it carried a teardrop pod with a radar, and because of it lost one of its guns. The pilot flew alone at night over the sea, so the cockpit received subdued lighting and a revised arrangement of the instruments. It went into action in 1943 with night squadrons manned by the US Navy and the Marine Corps, where the type proved that a single-seat fighter can handle a night interception even without a second crewman.
Finish the interior before you glue the fuselage, and keep checking that the parts still come together. Sand and degrease the surfaces under the elements. On the night version it pays to keep the overall tone of the interior darker and to use light highlights only sparingly, otherwise the cockpit loses the mood of the real thing. Glue the glazing last.
