This is an accessory set of photo-etched metal parts for a plastic model of the American F6F-5 Hellcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale, not an airplane kit. Thin metal parts refine the shapes that injection-molded plastic can only manage in simplified form, and they raise the level of detail in the places everyone looks at first when examining a model. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech firm from Obrnice near Most. It is a full photo-etched set, not a smaller set of the Zoom line. Check the particular contents of the package and the number of parts on the box of the set.
The F6F-5 was the later and most numerously built version of the Hellcat. Against the first production variant it differed in a number of design details, among other things in the windscreen of the canopy and in changes to the airframe covers. It is precisely such small things that decide whether an accessory set suits a model, which is why Eduard lists sets for the individual versions separately and it is worth watching which version you are building when you buy.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and sand the burr away. Make the bends in a bending tool or over a straight metal edge, otherwise the bend will be wavy. The metal is bonded with super glue or slow-setting epoxy, which gives time to align the part. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with primer. Before you seat a part, check how much plastic has to be sanded away so that the result does not stand out above the surrounding surface.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
