F6F Hellcat turned .50 cal Browning barrels with drilled cooling jackets 1:48 replace the plastic parts from a kit with more faithful metal barrels of the early armament.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but a metal detail accessory for a kit of the American carrier fighter F6F Hellcat in 1:48 scale. The set holds turned .50 cal Browning machine gun barrels with drilled cooling jackets as carried by the early machines. Turned metal has a faithful muzzle and finely rendered cooling jackets that a plastic molding cannot achieve.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier fighter of the Second World War, the backbone of US naval aviation in the fighting in the Pacific. It normally carried six .50 cal Browning machine guns in the wings. Early machines had barrels with perforated cooling jackets.
Cut off the plastic barrels on the leading edges of the wings and replace them with the metal parts, ideally into pre-drilled holes. Bond with super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and apply the paint thinly, so that the muzzle and the cooling jackets stay sharp.
The accessory requires a base kit; glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
