Responsibility details are not available.
This is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale aimed at the two-seat F/A-18D version with the squadron nicknamed Vikings. The D version has a lengthened canopy for a crew of two and was used for tasks where the second crew member operates the sensors and the equipment. For a modeler the type is interesting precisely for the silhouette of its cockpit and its busy surface.
The set holds printing on waterslide film. The model, the paints and the varnish are not part of it. The sheet suits a kit of the matching scale and replaces or supplements the markings from the box.
Modern machines wear gray low-visibility finishes and markings of low contrast. That has two consequences. First, every light edge around a decal is clearly visible against a gray surface, so a glossy surface is a necessity. Second, a finished model is usually completed with a matte varnish, which lowers the contrast of the markings further and evens the surface out.
Overcoat the painted model with a gloss varnish and let it dry for a day. Cut the motifs out closely to the printing, soak them in lukewarm water and let them stand on a towel. Transfer them onto a thin layer of softening solution, align them and blot the surplus water away. Apply the stronger solution only at the end, above all over engraved panels and joints. Once dry, wash with lukewarm water and go over it with a matte or semi-matte varnish.
The package holds decals, not a model. The paints, the varnishes and the solutions are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
