A set of instrument panels for a model of the two-seat A-10A N/AW Thunderbolt II in 1:48 scale, cut for the Hobby Boss kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a ground-attack aircraft built literally around its cannon and around the ability to survive a hit. The crew sits in a tub of armor plates, the controls have a backup and the machine can get home even badly battered. The N and AW designation points to operations at night and in poor weather, for which Fairchild converted the airframe to two seats, with a second crew member behind the pilot. That is exactly why the cockpit of this version is interesting: there are more stations and the instrument panels are not the same in both.
The set brings instrument panels for the A-10A N/AW model in 1:48 scale and is prepared for the Hobby Boss kit. The aim is to replace the bare plastic cockpit part with a legibly rendered station, which is the first thing visible once the canopy is closed.
First level the area in the cockpit and free it of dust and grease, because an element will only seat on a smooth base. Before applying, check in the manufacturer's instructions how the elements are attached to the base. The method of application differs between the types, so do not work on the set without the support of the instructions. Transfer the elements with tweezers or a damp toothpick and seat them at the first attempt, as repeated shifting does them no good. Once dry, the dials can be given a drop of gloss varnish to imitate the glass of the instrument.
For modelers who are building the A-10 in 1:48 scale and want the cockpit legible even once the canopy is closed. The set is an accessory to a kit; paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
